The Reno County Childcare Task Force is thrilled to honor Darcy Rhoades of Central Christian Child Care at Buhler MB as our Childcare Provider of the Month for May.

As the new director of Central Christian Child Care at Buhler MB, Darcy brings 25 years of experience. Darcy has been a steady, caring presence in the lives of countless children and families. What began as a way to stay home with her own kids while earning an income has grown into a lifelong calling—one she continues to embrace with passion and purpose.

“I’ve been doing this full-time since 1999,” Darcy shared. “At first, people kind of saw it as just babysitting. But now, it's recognized as a career, and there are more resources than ever to support providers.”

Darcy’s commitment reflects the evolving role of childcare in our communities. Today, it’s more than a service—it’s a profession that supports families, empowers the workforce, and strengthens the local economy. “Parents need a safe place to leave their kids. Knowing their children are well cared for lets them focus on their jobs, and that’s good for businesses and the entire community,” she said.

Darcy is grateful for the Reno County Childcare Task Force’s commitment to helping raise awareness of the vital role early childhood educators play.

“I think the Reno County Child Care Task Force is a good organization for the county because they bring a light to the industry. They are helping promote new ones start up like this one to help fill that need of the list that we do have. They offer all the resources like giving us the classes to take so that we can stay up to date on all of the training that we need.”

Despite opportunities to shift paths as her own children grew older, Darcy’s heart has always pulled her back to the little ones. “Every year I’d say I’ll stop when this child goes to kindergarten… but then I’d welcome new babies,” she smiled. “I just get too attached.”

That deep connection—to the children, their families, and the purpose behind her work—is a testament to the value and impact of quality childcare.

Please join us in celebrating Darcy Rhoades, our May Provider of the Month, for her unwavering dedication, her nurturing spirit, and her ongoing contribution to children and families in Reno County!
