Reno County is celebrating its youngest residents and their families. From April 15th to April 20th, early childhood organizations are planning exciting events with community partners across Hutchinson.
Monday, April 15: Blast off at the Cosmosphere and Play in the Park
9am to 1pm: The week kicks off at the Cosmosphere with free admission to the Hall of Space, CosmoKids, the Justice Planetarium, and Dr. Goddard’s Lab.
6pm to 7pm: Becker Park in Buhler hosts an outdoor playgroup, offering children the chance to explore nature, blow bubbles, and get creative with chalk.
Tuesday, April 16: Open Houses and Storytelling
9am to 11am: Families are invited to tour the Early Education Center Preschool during its Open House event.
6:30pm to 7:30pm: At the Hutchinson Public Library, listen to special storytelling sessions with your young children.
Wednesday, April 17: Playgroups and Nature Exploration
10am to 11am: Parents as Teachers hosts playgroups for children aged birth to 5, providing a fun-filled morning for families.
4pm to 6:30pm: Dillon Nature Center invites explorers to discover the world of owls and explore shapes and patterns in nature, all free of charge.
Thursday, April 18: Outdoor Fun and Downtown Excitement
10am to 11am: The Reno County Infant-Toddler programs hosts an outdoor playgroup at the Engweiler Park in Haven. Explore the park, blow bubbles, and color with chalk.
1pm to 3pm: The Early Education Center Preschool has another open house session for interested families.
6pm to 9pm: Enjoy Third Thursday activities in downtown Hutchinson with exciting events for the whole family.
Friday, April 19: Museum Adventures and Child Abuse Prevention Party
11:30am to 2pm: Join the Department for Children & Families for a Child Abuse Prevention Parking Lot Party, raising awareness and providing resources to prevent child abuse. There will be a Safe Sleep clinic, cribettes available, and children’s games with prizes, hot dogs, chips, drinks, and treats.
4:30pm to 6:30pm: The Reno County Museum welcomes families to explore its historical toy exhibit, art activities, and the Oodleplex children’s area.
Saturday, April 20: Movie Magic and Zoo Fun
2pm: Enjoy a family-friendly screening of “The Little Mermaid” at the Historic Fox Theatre. Admission is free for all.
2pm to 4pm: Explore the prairie dog tunnel, dinosaur dig, reptile and amphibian exhibit at the Hutchinson Zoo and enjoy a free train ride on the Prairie Thunder Railroad.
