QUALITY & EXPANSION GRANT:

Funding for Child Care Providers

Are you looking to improve your child care program or expand your capacity? The Quality & Expansion Grant provides up to $5,000 in funding to help licensed child care providers enhance their facilities, create new child care slots, or expand the services they offer to families.

PURPOSE

The Reno County Child Care Task Force (RCCTF) is committed to supporting child care providers in enhancing the quality of their services and expanding their capacity to meet the growing needs of families in our community.

 

This grant opportunity is open to home-based providers, center-based providers, and school-based programs, with funding available up to $5,000.

This grant is designed to help child care providers:

Improve the overall quality of their care environment.

Increase the number of child care slots available.

3

Expand the range of services offered to better serve families.

All approved projects must be completed by September 2026.

WHO CAN APPLY?

All applicants must meet the following criteria:

Hold a permanent, current KDHE license for at least 6 months

Operate a home, group, or center daycare (non-profit & for-profit organizations included)

Provide full-day, year-round care for ages 0-5 (school-age programs ineligible)

Located in Reno County, Kansas

Applicant agrees to all program requirements

HOW CAN THE GRANT BE USED?

Improve the quality of the care environment (e.g., safety updates, furniture, curriculum materials).

Expand the number of child care slots available (e.g., adding classroom space, playground upgrades).

Increase the range of services offered (e.g., accommodating infants, enhancing outdoor play areas).

Providers may choose from the pre-designed Quality & Expansion Packages or submit a custom request.

HOW TO APPLY

Submit Your Application Online

Application Review

  • Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis by the Child Care Grants Committee.

  • A Task Force member may request additional information if needed.

Receive a Decision

  • Applicants will receive a decision via email within 6 weeks.

Payment & Fulfillment

For pre-designed packages:

  • Items will be purchased by RCCTF and a Task Force member will coordinate delivery or pick-up.

  • If an item is unavailable, a comparable item will be substituted.

For custom requests:

  • Providers must submit two vendor quotes. If approved, funds will be paid directly to the vendor or service provider upon invoice submission.

Follow-Up & Documentation

Providers must submit:

  • A photo of the completed work

  • A short impact statement on how the funds helped

Note: Fraud prevention measures apply. Misuse of funds may result in disqualification from future funding.
